banjos are made to be played; and that it will be your pride and joy. Not all Deering banjos sound alike. We build a variety of banjos that will meet the different needs of players. We recommend that you try several different models, including our models with Deering bronze tone-rings, a Hartford banjo with the wood tone-ring, the Golden Era with the pre-war design, our electric banjos, Vega line, and our new Tenbrooks line. You'll find that Deering means playability quality, and a wonderful variety of excellent tones. We are banjo specialists.
All regular models are listed on the price list; however, this catalog does not show everything we make. For example, the Deluxe Tenor, though not shown in these pages, is made with similar features to the 5-string Deluxe. If you are wondering about the look of a left-handed, open-back, long neck, tenor, or plectrum banjo that is not shown in these pages, look at the comparable model in the 5-string section to see the design of the instrument. |

the back of the peghead on each upper-line banjo. The full serial number is inside the resonator. When you purchase a Deering,

The Gabriella is the very top of the Deering line. The Brazilian Rosewood neck has a genuine mother-of-pearl fingerboard and vine peghead inlay. An elaborate vine of raised and carved maple and mother-of-pearl circles the Brazilian rosewood resonator back. Each banjo of this caliber is signed personally by Greg and his top craftsmen on the serial number tag inside. This astounding banjo is only built on a custom order basis.
The Texas Banjo commemorates the 150th year anniversary of Texas' independence |
from Mexico. Only 151 Texas banjos will be made, each with a serial number representing one of the years between 1836 and 1986. You can choose, from remaining numbers, a year that has meaning in your life for your distinctive number. The Texas banjo is designed and marketed by Tony Ullrich of Houston and hand crafted in The Custom Shop. It's a one of a kind treasure, gold plated and engraved.
The Banjosaurus - Greg Deering designed this banjo for George Grove of the Kingston Trio. The fingerboard |
is a mural of the dinosaur age with inlays of white, gold and black pearl, coral, turquoise, cactus, abalone, veracite, malachite, several kinds of soapstones, koa, taugua nut, rosewood, and ebony. The resonator shown here has pop-on brackets, a custom feature that can be ordered for those who want a convertible banjo for both claw-hammer and blue-grass styles of playing. When you order a banjo of this caliber the one request we have is no strict time limits. It takes as long as it takes to make a masterpiece. Patience brings great rewards. |
