Deluxe & Black Diamond
The Deluxe is great sounding, great playing, and great looking. Dollar for dollar, the Deluxe is one of the best banjo values available anywhere.
The Deluxe is one of the most popular models of the Deering line. The gloss finish, and the hard, dense, colorful, exotic, and naturally beautiful ebony fingerboard, diamond shaped inlays, and extra trim on the back of the resonator are features that make a more elegant instrument. The pearl Deering logo in the peghead is the very first Deering logo. Greg designed it when he built his very first banjo in 1969.
The mahogany neck and resonator create a sweet tone. The Deluxe is built with the same tone producing components found in top of the line Deerings (Calico, G.D.L., etc) but without the fancier cosmetics.
"Well, you will be pleased to learn that I am the proud, very proud owner of your Deering Deluxe 5-string. Wow, what a beautiful quality instrument. I delight in just looking at it and truly enjoy the beautiful sound. My playing has improved, at least in my mind, and I'm very
pleased with this great banjo. Thanks for your dedication to building such quality banjos. I look forward to many
years, a lifetime of enjoyment. Thanks so much " ~ M.S.
The Black Diamond
The Black Diamond banjo evolved from requests for a fancier banjo than the Deluxe but with the same sweet tone of a mahogany banjo. The mother-of-pearl diamond shaped inlays are hand-engraved. This kind of detailing requires the skills of a master craftsman and pays off in added beauty. A maple stripe accentuates the black binding around the resonator and the side of the hard, dense,        colorful, exotic,        and naturally beautiful ebony
fingerboard. The banjo head is made of black mylar so the color will not scratch off.
The sweet sounding Black Diamond has a very refined and showy appearance. The shiny black head and black trim give it a modern and progressive look. The custom Black Diamond inlays give it a very classy appearance. It's an excellent performing banjo and a hot looking banjo as well.
"I've had my long-neck Black Diamond for about 4 years now. I've been 40 years and didn 't know what I was missing until I got this great banjo.
of the instrument transport me into the music every time I play and sing.
hacking at the 5 string banjo for about The sweetness of tone and responsiveness I'm no Pete Seeger but that really doesn
't matter, it's being transported that counts. " ~ J.N.

The Black Diamond Long Neck
If you want more flexibility in your range, the Long Neck banjo is for you. It can be capoed at the third fret and played as a regular 5-string in the key of G, or left open and played in the key of E. The lower range is great for sing-alongs.
The Black Diamond Long Neck banjo has an adjustable tropical mahogany neck with a hard, dense, colorful, exotic, and naturally beautiful ebony fingerboard and engraved diamond shaped mother-of-pearl inlays. With this banjo you get more volume and clarity than you expect from an open-back
You can see the color difference between nickel and chrome by comparing the Long Neck Black Diamond pictured here chrome plated to the nickel plated Deluxe and Black Diamond beside it. The Long Neck Black Diamond photographed here is Greg Deering's personal banjo. We always chrome plate our own banjos because the plating lasts so much longer and keeps its new look longer. Greg's banjo is about 20 years old. You certainly
can't tell by the plating!
