The Way to Travel!
All Goodtime Models have:
The Goodtime banjos have a slender, low profile neck that is easy to finger and comfortable for large and small hands. The fret work is accurate and precise to ensure correct intonation over the entire fingerboard. The single coordinator rod in the pot easily and effectively adjusts the playability so that the strings are close to the fingerboard and are easy to press down. All five tuners are geared and easy to tune. The tailpiece is extremely strong and easily adjustable to maximize tone by raising or lowering it.
The standard 11" diameter rim is a multi-ply pot made of birch and maple. Both woods are hard and dense and contribute to the bright crisp sound of the Goodtime banjos.
The 16 brackets and standard rim diameter make head adjustments easy and replacement heads are readily available since the heads are the same size as almost all modern banjos (11" high crown).
The Goodtime open-back banjo weighs about 4 pounds so it is light enough for children to hold and play and is ideal for traveling, camping, hiking, taking to the beach and provides a vibrant singing banjo tone in any situation. The Goodtime 2 weighs 6 lbs, the Goodtime Special Open-back weighs 6 lbs and the Goodtime Special weighs 8 lbs. (As compared with our Deering models which range from 10 lbs for a Boston to 12 lbs for a model with a Deering Bronze tone-ring.)
Goodtime 2
The Goodtime 2 has an added steel flange which attaches the resonator to the rim of the Goodtime. The maple resonator has a natural blond maple finish with a single black binding strip around the back edge. The resonator fastens to the banjo by machine screws that thread into brass wall lugs on the side walls of the resonator. Access is easy and simple.
Goodtime Special
Couple these features with the Goodtime Special steel tone ring and you have a banjo with more power, sustain, and ring. The tone ring is made from 1/8" steel and has the shape of a blue-grass style tone-ring. The sound is clear, with some of the Goodtime banjo sweetness and yet, it has some of the bell-like tone that is desired in more expensive banjos. It can be played very soft and fairly hard and has good balance.
The NEW Goodtime Classic!
The New Goodtime Classic Series features the same four basic models of the Goodtime line with added trimmings of an elegantly detailed peghead shape, spikes installed at 7, 9 & 10, and a rich, warm brown satin finish on the maple neck, resonator and rim. So we now have The Classic, The Classic 2, The Classic Special and The Openback Classic Special banjos added to the Goodtime line.
Classic Goodtime's are reminiscent of early banjos that were brought along on the wagon trains across the American prairies when this great land was settled. Enjoying their new found freedom and wide open spaces, settlers played banjos like J the Classic Goodtime's at campfires, dances, church socials and church services just as they do today in thankfulness and celebration.
The entire Goodtime banjo line is the only economy priced banjos being made in America today. Visit our factory in Spring Valley, California, near San Diego. We give daily factory tours where you can see quality banjos in the making. You are welcome to come for a visit.
